Cary Grant and Irene Dunne play Jerry and Lucy Warriner, a modern socialite couple who have decided to get divorced. As the clock ticks down to midnight, their final hours as a married couple are spent trying to undermine the other's attempts to find happiness, she with staid bachelor Dan Leeson, he with heiress Barbara Vance because, as Leo McCarey's sophisticated screwball comedy proves, they're meant for each other.
