This was the first novel by Michael Crichton to be adapted for the screen.

A research satellite falls back to Earth carrying an extra-terrestrial deadly bacteria which subsequently wipes out a small Arizona town.

An elite group of scientists are assembled in a hi-tech underground facility to try and identify the bacteria and stop it from spreading and becoming a threat to the future existence of mankind.
