A hard-living and fiercely independent woman called, (Jodie Foster) is renowned for her freeliving, and less than moral lifestyle.

However, when she is gang-raped in the back room of her local bar, by a group of college students, her life is destined never to be the same again.

This, unfortunately is only the beginning of her horrific ordeal. The men who committed the rape are found and tried, but due to their higher social standing, and her less than rosy moral reputation, the men are let off with an extremely light sentence.

Now she finds herself battling the legal system not once but twice as she and her attorney, (Kelly McGillis) go after the onlookers whose cheering encouraged the evil assault.
