Pedro Almodóvar's Oscar-winning film stars Javier Cámara as a male nurse fixated by a dance student, and Darío Grandinetti as Marco, a journalist who interviews a bullfighter on the eve of a fight. When the two women are separately injured and left in a coma, the two men meet and their mutual concerns for each of their "patients" sees them form a bond as they care for two women who cannot respond to their affection.
