Swimming With Sharks (1994)
Written by George HuangDirected by George HuangRunning Time: 100 minutes (approx)Production Year: 1994Rating: 15 CertificateProduction Country: USAFilmed in Colour"Diving with sharks is better than sex," says Debbie, a young British nurse, after her first encounter with a great white shark. There are also people mad enough to go as far as kissing and cuddling sharks just for the sheer hell of it. Off the coast of South Africa, Andre Hartmann tickles a 4m great white on the nose, butts it with his bare foot and even swims freely with it, without the safety of a cage. He says: "I've never really been afraid of death - I just stay away from the teeth!" Christina Zenato loves sharks so much that, after handfeeding them, she likes to give them a hug and a kiss. She's dived with reef sharks in the Bahamas over 5,000 times and, as she strokes them, they go into a trance in her lap. Brittany Adkisson is 14 years old and is the only child living on a small island in the Bahamas. She has 42 pets, including a rabbit called "Jaws", and hundreds more "pets" underwater - all of them sharks, including "Freckles", her best friend. It seems that sharks can sense fear and New Ager Erich Ritter believes he can prevent an attack by meditating before he enters the water with bull sharks. When he looks into the eyes of a shark, he says he sees his Yorkshire Terrier staring back. One man gets closer than most. Nick Otway loves to be up to his elbows in dead shark to analyse their insides, and in sharks' stomachs he's found everything from car number plates to paintbrushes. Over the years, other people have discovered shoes, a sheep, a bulldog and a Frenchman in a suit of armour inside sharks. Cast
