Moments before his execution for the murders of a mother and father, a killer known as the Sandman is visited by a voodoo priest. The priest magically enables the killer to leave his body at the moment of death, and become a literal Sandman. Thus begins the creature's pursuit of Griffin, the only remaining member of the family slaughtered 17 years ago.
