This, unfortunately, leaves his second wife, Fanny (Harriot Walter) and their three daughters, Elinor (Emma Thompson), Marianne (Kate Winslett) and Margaret (Emilie François) with no money and facing the ordeal of being forced out of their home into a small more affordable cottage. Although they are not in danger of starvation, or alike, this loss of wealth means that the girl's marriageability is badly affected. However, the practical, sensible, Elinor forms an attachment with the very wealthy and affluent Edward Ferrars (Hugh Grant) but his family disapprove of him marrying one of no wealth so seperates the pair leaving Mrs Jennings (Elizabeth Spriggs) trying to match her with Colonel Brandon (Alan Rickman). In the meantime the romantic Marianne has become attracted to the dashing and fiery John Willoughby (Greg Wise). However both these relationships are pout under great pressure. Will true love surpass the monetary disabilities of two sisters, one of whom is all sense and the other all sensibility. Cast
