Although having a particularly impressive cast list the true star of the film is Fincher, for the effective atmosphere of doom that he creates, along with an inventive, original storyline. Set in New York the film focuses on two homicide detective's; Detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman, Hard Rain, Deep Impact) and Detective David Mills (Brad Pitt, Snatch, Meet Joe Black). Their job is to hunt for the serial killer that justifies his murders because of the world's ignorance towards the Seven Deadly Sins: Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Pride, Lust, Envy and Wrath. The film moves from one chosen victim to the next, as Joe Doe (Kevin Spacey, American Beauty, and The Negotiator) shows the detectives each sin, the first one being the sin of Gluttony. The screen captures the terrible murder as it is graphically demonstrated, in the style of film noir. The detectives try to get into the mind of the killer to understand his motives. Unfortunately, they too become ensnared in his diabolical plan.... The film has an excellent twist and is a very interesting watch. Cast
