Wes Craven's follow-up to the classic Scream is set two years after the tragic events in Woodboro and refers knowingly to the original. The characters earnestly discuss sequels to box-office busters as a Halloween-masked slasher once again haunts the survivors of the first round of killings, including Neve Campbell, the wounded deputy David Arquette and, of course, newswoman Courtney Cox, who's made a fortune from the first murders and returns once the killings start again.
