Made for TV

Overlong and curiously flat pilot for the long-running TV series, which sees the titular detective attempting to get the goods on a philandering psychiatrist who has cured his wife's neuroses by the simple expedient of murdering her. An eerily youthful-looking Peter Falk makes his debut as Columbo (a role first played by Bert Freed), whose persona has yet celebrated slovenliness of later entries in the series, while Gene Barry, Katherine Justice and William Windom co-star.
