Story about an orphaned 11-year-old who goes to live in the country with her strict and dutiful Aunt Polly. Her enthusiasm for life brightens up the sleepy village of Beldingsville, and she soon even manages to win round her aunt. But when something terrible happens to Pollyanna and she can find nothing to be glad about, it is Aunt Polly who faces a dilemma.
