In the not-too-distant future, a transporter pilot makes a forced crash-landing of her spacecraft on a distant planet.

As the disparate group of survivors, including a blood-thirsty prisoner (Vin Diesel), explore the uncomfortably hot planet, they must band together when the other inhabitants emerge from their dark resting place as they cannot stand sunlight ... but the planet has a total eclipse every 22 years, and the latest one is due any moment.
