This slick drama sees Gene Reardon (Rutger Hauer) is a small-town detective who gets assigned to a kidnapping case.

Having failed severely in another kidnapping case eleven years ago, this affects him much on a personal level. Another aspect of the case that makes him even more concerned to solve this one is the fact that he is forced to co-operate with the FBI on the case and things start to become complicated when the FBI hotshot called in on the case turns out to be his ex-wife.

Not to forget, the trail of the killer... which leads directly to him!?
