A marshal in a mining colony on Io, Jupiter's third largest moon, is faced with a violent drug ring, tacitly sanctioned by the authorities, which he refuses to ignore even though it may cost him his life.

After his wife angrily deserts him, he waits alone for the company henchmen who plan to kill him in a futuristic echo of 'High Noon'
