Written by Peter Ettedgui, Michael Ignatieff

Directed by Martha Fiennes

Production Year: 1999

Rating: 12 Certificate

Production Country: UK/USA

Filmed in Colour

Classical adaptation of Pushkin's novel with a strong cast and some striking cinematography. Ralph Fiennes is the diffident aristocrat who rejects Liv Tyler before deciding that she's rather fine after all. Of course, by then, it's too late. Fiennes' sister Martha, better known for her advertising work, directs with restraint.
