London hustler Harry Fabian dreams of running a wrestling racket. But he's only one step ahead of his own cons, pursued by mobster Kristo. Two years after this film, Jules Dassin was named as a Communist by fellow director Edward Dmytryk. He fled to France, where he found success with Rififi in 1956.
