Jake Tyler (Sean Faris) is a hit even before he arrives at his new school in Florida. A YouTube video of the angry gridiron hunk beating up a rival makes him an instant hero, until bad boy Ryan McCarthy (Cam Gigandet) metes out a beating.

Bruised and embarrassed in front of school hottie Baja (Amber Heard), Jake vows revenge. But he's only used to fighting with his fists - Ryan has the full martial arts arsenal.

Step forward Jean Roqua (Djimon Hounsou), a grizzled Senegalese fighter who teaches Jake the skills, and the self-control, to win: "Never give up. Never back down."

Combining the chiselled violence of Fight Club with the babes'n'bikini glamour of The O.C., this is a sledgehammer teen actioner.
