Samantha and Philby attend a private book signing by Alexandr Tseitsev, a former KGB agent who is now a mystery novelist. Philby and Alexandr were on opposite sides during the war, but after meeting they find they have a lot in common. Then Alexandr is murdered. Samantha is injured while trying to catch the murderer so Philby is left to unravel the clues and find the killer on his own.
