Three superheroes appear on a crime scene but screw up. They get beaten up, while the real tough guy, Captain Amazing (Greg Kinnear) cleans up and milks all the publicity.

However, the Captain has a problem; in all the city, there isn't anyone bad enough to justify his existence. And with his sponsors threatening to pull their glossy logos off his bullet-proof black kevlar suit, he needs to start pulling some really tough stunts.

Captain Amazing consults his publicist to track down a supervillain worthy of his talents.

"Death Man?"

"Death Man is dead."

"OK. Father Doom."

"Life without parole."

"Apocalypter's doing 50 years, Armagezmo's in exile, Baron von Chaos got the chair, Casanova Frankenstein's locked up in a nuthouse.."

They track down Casanova (Geoffrey Rush) and pardon him. But when the disco-loving evil genius with the Bavarian accent kidnaps Captain Amazing, it is up to the three would-be superheroes to save the city.

Great lines, top costumes and a first-rate cast who all get in on the act and never duck the pratfalls.
