Written by Daniel GordonDirected by Marc RoccoRunning Time: 117 minutes (approx)Production Year: 1995Rating: 15 CertificateProduction Country: France/USAFilmed in ColourThis brilliant movie has been inspired by a true story. The story follows that of a petty criminal called Henri Young (Kevin Bacon) whom, in the 1930's was sent to Alcatraz prison as punishment for his crimes. Whilst trying to escape the unescapable prison, he is caught and sentenced to serve some time in the solitary confinement unit. However, the maximum stay in this unit is only upposed ot be 19 days long, yet Henri was made to spend years all alone in this cold, dark, dank and solitary room. On his release from solitary he is, as you would expect, a complete mad man and soon adds murder to his record. Now the story starts with a recently graduated lawyer called James Stamphill (Christian Slater) who sets out to prove that Alcatraz was to blame in this whole sordid affair and that Henri should not be executed for a murder he was forced to commit. A magnificent film!!! Cast
