Successful self-help author John Farley (Seann William Scott) returns to his hometown to find his mum (Susan Sarandon) engaged to the man who made his school years hell - tyrannical gym teacher Jasper Woodcock (Billy Bob Thornton, pictured). Outraged at the thought that his mum will soon be married to the sadistic teacher, Farley resolves to scupper their nuptials, come what may. A battle of wills ensues, but Woodcock gets the upper hand at every turn leaving Farley battered, bruised and humiliated... just like old times.

A standard-issue comedy starring consistent crowdpleaser Scott as the butt of every slapstick set-up, while Thornton plays Mr Nasty with his usual efficiency. Susan Sarandon's inclusion in the cast gives the film a star quality that would otherwise be lacking.
