Errol Morris' fascinating portrait of Fred A Leuchter Jr begins a week of programming dedicated to the remarkable filmmaker. Mr Death tells the story of a man who refined the 'humanity' of America's electric chairs, gas chambers and lethal injection chairs and was actually praised for his compassion but became infamous for 'analysing' bricks from Auschwitz for traces of cyanide gas and, not finding any, published his findings and joined the ranks of reviled Holocaust-deniers.
