Tom Cruise reprises his role as secret agent Ethan Hunt in this high-adrenaline, action spy thriller. While slightly slower than the 1996 original, it really delivers as it unfolds. Released in 1999 and stylishly directed by John Woo, Hunt undertakes a difficult assignment to capture a rogue erstwhile colleague - Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott) - who has stolen a deadly genetically engineered virus.

With Ambrose intending to sell the virus and its antidote to the highest bidder, Hunt enlists the help of beautiful Nyah Nordoff-Hall (Thandie Newton, pictured), the criminal's former girlfriend. But when Nyah becomes infected, there's a race against time to save her - and the entire human race...
