Filmed in Colour

Atmospheric drama about a fugitive prostitute in the South Pacific who finds herself in conflict with a bigoted moralist. Rita Hayworth gives a steamy performance in a part already made famous by Gloria Swanson and Joan Crawford in earlier film versions of Somerset Maugham's story, Rain. In this remake, some musical numbers have been added to relieve the tropical torpor.
