Lucille Ball plays Ellen Grant, an efficient but not-too-bright secretary hired by real-estate seller Dick Richmond to front his office. Except, he's really running an illegal bookies and her job is to fob off any innocent house-buyers. Things go swimmingly until she discovers the truth and goes about settling matters in her own inimitable way. Lloyd Bacon's comedy gives Ball full rein of her skills and her character isn't too far away from her role in I Love Lucy
