Kathy Bates turns in an Oscar-winning performance in Rob Reiner's superb film of the Stephen King best-seller.

After being involved in a car accident during a blizzard, the famous romance novelist, Paul Sheldon (James Caan) is rescued by his "number-one fan", Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), a former nurse.

Things start well when Annie takes him home and cares for him, pieceing him back together as the blizzard continues. While he recovers, she talks him into writing his next novel. However, when Annie discovers that the book doesn't end the way she wants it to, she forces him to stay and re-write the ending.

Unfortunately he has no way of leaving as she psychotically re-opens his old injuries and creates even more in a cunning ploy to keep her hero with her!

Now he must find a way of escape from the crazy nurse before she kills him...
