Tuneful, surreal black comedy about a young man who finds and cares for a seemingly ordinary plant in the basement of his shop, only to see it grow into a maniacal, bloodthirsty monster bent on world domination. Based on the successful stage musical by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, which itself was inspired by director Roger Corman's 1960 low-budget horror comedy.
