Cult Western about two women battling tooth and claw for land rights. Joan Crawford plays a saloon owner with an immoral past who incurs the wrath of Mercedes McCambridge, a spunky, spiky local do-gooder who wants her driven out of town. Sterling Hayden co-stars as the guitar-playing gunfighter who tries to intervene in the battle of wills but doesn't end up doing much more than stand around watching.
