Quentin Tarantino's slick and fast-paced third film, based on an Elmore Leonard novel, is a tight thriller, centred around blaxploitation star Pam Grier (pictured). She plays Jackie Brown, a strong woman approaching the end of her career as an air hostess.

Jackie has been trafficking "hot" money for a gangster (Samuel L. Jackson), but when she finds she's carrying enough for retirement, she decides to fly solo, so long as she can keep him, the local cops and the feds convinced of her honesty.
