Neil Jordan's 1994 version of Ann Rice's novel Interview with the Vampire is laudably lavish, but meanders a bit, lacks focus and is a tad too long. Nevertheless there's some wonderful interplay between Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, who - despite initial reservations that they wouldn't cut it as vampires - really get their teeth into the leading roles. And Antonio Banderas is terrific as Armand, the leader of a luvvie troupe in Paris.

After his wife dies, plantation owner Louis de Pointe du Lac (Pitt) decides that life is no longer worth living. At this point he befriends Lestat de Lioncourt(Cruise), a vampire who can offer him immortality. But everything comes at a price and he is condemned to a life with only Lestat and a small girl Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) for eternal company.
