The man in the hat is back, and this time he's brought his ex, his kid and half the Russian Army. Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) licked the Nazis, so shouldn't the Ruskis be a pushover? When venomous Soviet Colonel Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett) breaks into a Nevada desert warehouse containing all of America's dirty secrets, Jones discovers that she's hunting for a recently acquired artefact of incredible power. Meeting 50s greaser Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf), who persuades Jones to help him locate his missing mum - Indy's old flame Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) - the unlikely duo head to Peru. Finding Marion in the clutches of Spalko and her goons, Jones embarks on a frantic chase through the South American jungle as he attempts to get his hands on the stolen treasure - an object which holds the key to one of history's greatest mysteries.

Steven Spielberg and producer/creator George Lucas clearly had the time of their lives bringing their every childhood fantasy to the big screen, from whiteknuckle truck chases to nuclear explosions, flesheating ants and the search for the legendary city of El Dorado.

Part four has been a long time coming and it certainly delivers enough spectacle to override the more implausible moments; from Indy surviving a nuclear bomb by hiding in a fridge to Mutt playing Tarzan with a troop of monkeys. It's pure adventure overload charged with enough sinister henchmen, death-defying drops and retina-scorching explosions to fuel four more sequels. Harrison Ford may be in his sixties, but on the evidence of this latest adventure, Indiana Jones won't be propping his feet up in a retirement home anytime soon.
