This is the definitive Western movie.

When retiring marshal, Gary Cooper (Will Kane) hears that an outlaw he imprisoned some years before is about to be released he asks his *loyal* townsfolk for help when it is cear that the convict is on his way to town - incidentally on the afternoon of his wedding.

However the townsfolk are too terrified to aid the Marshal against this act of revenge.
