Screen adaptation of James Michener's bestseller telling the story of the first missionaries to Hawaii in the nineteenth century. A dire situation arises when a rigid puritan missionary, fresh from Yale Divinity School, attempts to impose his personal view of civilisation on the relaxed and idyllic life of the Hawaiian islanders.
