Sprawling epic, plotting the events at a cattle ranch over two generations. A straight-laced Texan with a vast ranch returns from a trip to Maryland with a new wife. However, his comfortable lifestyle is threatened when a rival rancher starts digging for oil - and falls for his wife. This was James Dean's final film.
