From Here to Eternity (1953)Written by James JonesDirected by Fred ZinnemannRunning Time: 125 minutes (approx)Production Year: 1953Rating: PG CertificateProduction Country: USAFilmed in Black and WhiteAn outstanding Second World War drama, Fred Zinnemann's 1953 multi-Oscar winning film is a must-see. Probably best known for the memorable roll in the surf between Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr, it also brought Frank Sinatra's acting career into prominence. On a Hawaiian US Army base prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Sergeant Milton Warden (Lancaster) falls for fellow officer's wife Karen Holmes (Kerr). Meanwhile, misfit private Robert E Lee Prewitt (Montgomery Clift) has a personal battle on his hands and Private Angelo Maggio (Sinatra) gets mixed up with goodtime girl Alma "Lorene" Burke (Donna Reed).
