Heartwarming tale about a troubled young boy and his friendship with a captive orca whale named Willy. On bad terms with his new foster parents and set to work in an aquarium under court order, the boy turns to the whale for companionship. But when he uncovers a cruel plot by its owner to kill the whale in order to claim a big insurance payout, the lad becomes determined to save Willy's life and release the creature back into the ocean.
