In 2200 AD Commander Adams (Leslie Nielsen) and the crew of a space cruiser land on Altair-4 to investigate the fate of a previous mission of space colonists and find all but two have died.

Dr Morbius (Walter Pidgeon) and his beautiful daughter Altaira (Anne Francis) have somehow survived despite being tormented by a hideous monster that roams the planet - but what is the real truth behind this monster?

Based on William Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'.
