The last in this week's trio of Joseph Kane westerns stars John Wayne as Duke Fergus, a rancher who rides into San Francisco's dissolute Barbary Coast to collect the money he's owed for a horse from casino owner Tito Morell. Cheated out of the money in a crooked game of cards, he returns home, learns how to become an expert player and returns, earning enough to build his own casino and lure singer Ann Tarry from Morell. But as the two men's rivalry grows, all their ambitions are laid waste by the great 1906 earthquake.
