Philo Beddoe (Clint Eastwood) is an easy-going truck driver and revered bare-knuckle fighters who roams the San Fernando Valley in search of beer, country music and, when available, a good fight.

Beddoe lives in a shack with buddy Orville's (Geoffrey Lewis) feisty, octogenarian mother (Ruth Gordon) and Clyde, an Orangutan he won in a bet, who sips beer and gives the bird to authority.

Very funny movie with car chases, hostile lawmen and a biker gang created one of Eastwood's more profitable movies.
