Set in World War II during the Battle of Stalingrad, the story follows sniper Vassili Zaitsev a hero of the Soviet Union during the war as he plays a game of cat and mouse with Germany's highest ranking sniper Major König. The film details each other's efforts in locating the other as they inevitably draw closer and closer to a final confrontation.
