Through a series of flashbacks, Will gives her the (child-friendly) story of his romantic life, through his three great loves, Emily (Elizabeth Banks), April (Isla Fisher) and Summer (Rachel Weisz). But Will changes the names and leaves out a few important details. So who is Maya's mother, and who should have been his soulmate? A romcom centred on a devoted dad and his precocious daughter from the writer of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and Wimbledon should, by rights, be a nausea-inducing saccharine-fest. However, a feather-light touch in emotional moments and genuinely charming performances from the whole cast make this a movie capable of winning over even the most cynical of audiences. Ryan Reynolds proves his acting chops as a leading man to be reckoned with and Abigail Breslin once again defies the conventions of child stardom by refusing to be annoying. Definitely one to watch.
