Filmed in Colour

In 1960s Australia, four orphans are treated to a holiday by the seaside. There, the prospect of adoption by exciting local couple Fearless (Sullivan Stapleton) and Teresa (Victoria Hill) sets the formerly fast friends at each other's throats. But the eldest, Maps (Daniel Radcliffe, pictured), is more interested in romantic adventures with the beautiful Lucy (Teresa Palmer, pictured).

This is Radcliffe's first big-screen role outside of the Harry Potter series. He shows that he's more than just a one-trick wizard, confidently holding his own on screen with no magical CGI back-up. A sentimental, but not too sweet coming-of-age tale, the film is a gentle family adventure, beautifully shot and well acted and deserving of far more than the Potter Down Under tag with which it was inevitably labelled.
