On the Western Front during the First World War Y Company go over the top, but amid the mustard gas, smoke and darkness, a small platoon get cut off from their battalion. They find themselves in deserted German trenches and decide to sit tight until their situation becomes clearer. As they huddle together, scared and lost, they begin to believe they are not alone and that somewhere in the trenches, someone or something is lurking. Michael J Bassett's eerie horror film stars Jamie Bell as Charlie Shakespeare, an underage conscript, Andy Serkis as Thomas Quinn, a violent psychopath, and Hugo Speer as David Tate, the sergeant holding the men together.
