Une femme, deux hommes, une histoire d'amour, un meurtre, un match de boxe, la mafia... Dans un grand hôtel parisien, deux détectives enquêtent sur la mort d'un mystérieux prince. Dans une des chambres, une équipe prépare le match de boxe d'un jeune espoir. L'organisateur du combat doit de l'argent au couple qui séjourne clans une chambre voisine et est, de plus recherché par la mafia. Une intrigue policière, et le regard de Godard sur le pouvoir de l'argent...
