This sexy romantic comedy follows the story of an aspiring young songwriter and the wild adventure she has in the Big Apple featuring a terrific soundtrack.

Graced with a velvet voice, Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo) is a 21 year old girl, who lives in a small New Jersey town with her protective father, William (John Goodman). She soon decides to move to New York City to pursue a career in music.

As most people trying to get into the music industry in NYC, she has a rather rough time; all her efforts to get a demo tape to a producer are useless, additionally her apartment is broken in to, leaving her with nothing. Now, a coincidence has lead her to Coyote Ugly, a night club where only beautiful women call the shots, using their female attraction to drive the guests just crazy, and out of desperation she decides to take a job there.

A new nightclub with a twist, Coyote Ugly is the hottest spot in town, featuring a team of sexy, enterprising young women who tantalize customers and the media alike with their outrageous antics. Not knowing what she was getting herself into, she ends up part of the Coyote Ugly family, who are a lively bunch of bartenders doing everything from dancing on the bar to lighting it on fire.

Lil (Maria Bello) runs the bar, and almost acts as some kind of wild mother figure to the bartenders/dancers. After getting in trouble because of a misunderstanding, Violet's new friend Kevin tries to rid her of her stage fear so that she can perform her songs herself. Violet's father Bill does not like her new job as well as her leaving him, but it's all part of growing up.
