In one of his best roles, Sylvester Stallone plays the sheriff of smalltown Garrison, New Jersey which has been home to a group of corrupt New York cops, led by Harvey Keitel, who protects his own when two young innocent blacks are shot by a drunk rookie. Stallone's only hope of getting justice is to team up with Robert De Niro of Internal Affairs in James Mangold's tight thriller.
