He's America's most unlikely policeman: a shabby, shambling 'tec, with his trademark scruffy mac, battered car, well-chewed cigar and low-key manner. But right from the start, Lieutenant Columbo has the knack of sniffing out the guilty party, and he always gets his man (or woman) by employing the quirkiest of detective methods and doggedly piecing together even the tiniest fragments of evidence.
