Directed by Ron Underwood, it stars Billy Crystal (pictured, left), Daniel Stern and Bruno Kirby as three city types who decide to spend their vacation on a cattle drive led by crusty cowboy Curly (an Oscar-winning performance by Jack Parlance, pictured, right). When the old rancher dies on the trail, the three city chums have to decide whether to abandon the herd or finish the job using the skills Curly taught them. Bright and breezy with some great one-liners, it occasionally veers into cloying sentimentality. Apart from that, it's on the button, and considerably better than the sequel. When is City Slickers next on TV?
