Stephen Fry's directorial debut is based on Evelyn Waugh's Vile Bodies. Stephen Campbell Moore stars as a penniless, jobless unemployable sort of chap whose only hope of money and position is to throw himself into the hedonistic social scene of the 30s. Fry managed to recruit an A-list of stars, including Michael Sheen, Peter O'Toole, Jim Broadbent, Simon Callow and Dan Aykroyd, all of whose performances, even if brief, illuminate a film that exactly captures the giddy time between the two world wars.
