Gurinder Chadha, previously known for Bhaji on the Beach and Bend it Like Beckham, takes on Jane Austen's classic novel and sprinkles it with Bollywood magic.

Set in the modern era, William Darcy (Martin Henderson), a rich New York hotelier, is visiting India to join his best friend Balraj (Naveen Andrews) at a wedding as well as check out possible sites to expand his empire. Also at the wedding are the Bakshi family, including Lalita Bakshi (Aishwarya Rai), and while for Balraj and her older sister Jaya (Namrata Shirodkar) it's love at first sight, for Darcy and Lalita, it's antipathy at first sight, as he makes tactless remarks about her family and Indian traditions while she considers him an imperialist and a snob. But as they keep bumping into each other, so they find themselves drawn closer and, of course, in the end true love prevails.

Witty, with some wonderful OTT characters including Lalita's mother, played by Nadira Babbar and Nitin Ganatra as Darcy's rival make this a delight with, of course, colourful song-and-dance sequences galore.
